Whether you’re an Avenger, a Pokémaster or a time-travelling doctor, there will be a range of free titles for everyone who enters the store. Paniyiri Greek Festival

With temperatures dropping, many of us are dreaming of a warm Mediterranean getaway. But there’s no need to hop on a plane, because this month the fun and flavours of Greece are coming right here to Brissy! The Paniyiri Greek Festival has been gracing our city for four decades now, and this year’s event will have no shortage of plate smashing, Hellenic dancing, grape stomping and honey puff-eating competitions. Oh and did we mention the food? It wouldn’t be a Greek festival without a big fat Greek feast! Medieval Market and Fantasy Faire

Meet fairies and dragons as magic and mayhem collide for a fantasy fest of epic proportions. There will be a range of activities and entertainment on offer, and you can check out the medieval market stalls for a dazzling selection of trinkets and treats. Brisbane Backyard Film Festival

Location: Ipswich Mall, Union Place Ipswich

Bring your rug, grab a tinnie and set up your patch on the grass at Australia’s biggest backyard cinema. The Brisbane Backyard Film Festival is an annual showing of the best Queensland has to offer in the world of short films, music videos and movie trailers. You’ll have the chance to catch the eight best entries to the festival, each under 20 minutes long, with winners being judged on the night. With entry costing less than tickets to a regular cinema, all you film buffs out there will love this awesomely unique viewing experience under the stars. Find out more
