Maylands Street Festival

Date: 1-2 May
Location: Eighth Avenue, Maylands

The Maylands Street Festival is a street market with all the usual suspects: delicious food, stalls filled with artisan goodies, music and street performers. But don’t get us wrong. When we say “the usual” we don’t just mean any old food and drink – we mean the Maylands Hawker Markets and two awesome pop-up bars. And on top of that, you can roll over to watch some crazy demonstrations at the mobile skate park, entertain the kids with a Children Zone filled with rides and activities, and dance your way over to Railway Parade to chill to the sounds of a live jazz band. Find out more

The Black Masquerade

Date: 7 May
Location: Gilkison Dance Studio – 45 Murray St, Perth

This isn’t your standard masquerade, with tuxedoes and champagne and fancy waiters in waistcoats. Instead, it’s what’s described as a ‘mini-fest’ – essentially a bangin’ club held in the heritage-listed GIlkinsons Dance Studio. The studio will be decked out in the usual masquerade theme, with all the elegant trimmings. And they’ll be bringing in DJ Joe Letz of COMBICHRIST as the entertainment for the night, spinning the latest alternative, industrial and classic tunes. With two separate levels of dance floor to explore, this will definitely be a big night to remember! Don’t forget your mask! Find out more
