Just north of the city on the busy Brunswick Street is the iconic Vegie Bar. Vegie Bar has been serving its customers healthy and wholesome vegetarian dishes for several decades now, arriving well before the wave of health food venues that you’ll now find scattered through Melbourne.
Their mission is simple, to serve planet friendly dishes that nourish and satisfy. Vegie Bar makes vegetarian food accessible and also enjoyable, even for those who would typically choose meat over straight veg options. Vegans and those with food intolerances will also be taken care of too. The menu includes wholefood bowls plus wok and grill dishes, right through to vegie burgers and pizzas! Who said healthy, environmentally conscious eats couldn’t be delicious?
Open 11am – 10pm Sunday – Thursday, 11am – 10.30pm Fridays and Saturdays
72A Ackland Street St Kilda
‘Help the earth to survive so that you can thrive’ – that’s Matcha Mylkbar’s motto, and a mighty good one at that. Not only does this health food café strive for greatness with their environmentally conscious goals, it’s also known for its delicious, and beautifully presented dishes.
Matcha Mylkbar often appears on lists featuring trending dishes in Melbourne, and frequents many a Melbournian’s Instagram feed with its picture perfect creations. Popular menu items include the ‘Amazebowls’, burgers with bright green Matcha buns, and the long list of brightly coloured latte variations, from the vibrant Blue Algae Latte (Smurf Latte), Charcoal Latte, Purple Peanut Butter Latte and the Carrot Cake Latte to name but a few. Can’t decide which ones to try? We recommend ordering the barista’s choice which includes a selection of 4 different lattes for you to sample.
