Melbourne’s cafes are awash with hot chocolate this winter, and we’re here to point you towards the very best of it. Read on to have your taste buds well and truly tickled.
Straddling the line between chocolatier and super-cool cafe, the legendary Mörk is the perfect place to begin. Speciality hot chocolate is the name of the game here, with everything from chilli to malted variants available. If you haven’t yet done so, give the ‘Campfire’ hot chocolate a go. You get a glass of smoke and some melted choccy to pour all over it, as well as a fluffy toasted marshmallow. Cute!
“Worth every penny for an expensive hot chocolate. I recently purchased their Mork Original Dark Hot Choc. The jar did cost I think in excess of $20 however every time I make this at home I am taken to another world. The 70% cocoa is beautiful and the packaging is rustic and I think it really depicts this beautiful product. I have been told even some cafes now stock this so will have to find who.” – Alwaysroomfordessert
The shadow of Mörk stretches far indeed, and Hash Specialty Coffee is more than happy to use its delectable wares in their own fabulous creations. When you order a hot chocolate at this slick and quirky brunch spot, you’re given a glass of melted 70% Mörk chocolate, which you then tip onto a hefty cloud of fairy floss. It’s a truly indulgent bevvie, and just what you need for a mood boost.
“Hash is actually famous for their hot chocolate. It’s served up with a big dash of FAIRY FLOSS. I watch in envy seeing a child at the next table devour the fairy floss. Nice sugar hit.” – Cronut Dreams
Cosy, modern and delightfully friendly, Three Daughters is a lovely place to grab a bite and a sip of something naughty. Speaking of which, the hot chocolate here is thick, creamy and thoroughly scrumptious, and comes with a gigantic toasted marshmallow just for good measure. Oh, and if you’re still not convinced, there’s also free Wi-Fi! Sounds alright, doesn’t it?
Are you in Three Daughters Cafe right now? Why not make good use of that Wi-Fi and review it on True Local?
Three words: Nutella. Hot. Chocolate. Honestly, that should probably be enough to sell you on Fourth Chapter by itself, but we’ll tell you a little more about the place anyway. It’s a bright, spacious, greenery-draped cafe with a wonderfully old-fashioned feel, and the food is absolutely top notch. Still, let’s not get distracted here. Nutella hot chocolate. Nutella. Hot. Chocolate.
Have you tried the Nutella hot chocolate (Nutella. Hot. Chocolate) at Fourth Chapter yet? Drop a quick review!
Ahh, Ganache Chocolate. A veritable wonderland of chocolatey fun, boasting everything from gift-wrapped goodie bags to piping hot pastries. As you can imagine, this choccy shop/patisserie certainly isn’t lacking in the hot chocolate department either. You’ve got plenty of choice here, but nothing melts away the winter frost like a nice big mug of fiery Chilli Hot Chocolate. Toasty!
“This beautifully chocolate shop and cafe also holds chocolate-making classes but if you’re like me you probably just prefer to sit and consume their delicious end products! I came with a chocolate-crazy friend from overseas and he was amazed at both the range and flavours. Exuding class and warmth, this is not to be missed by chocolate lovers!” – starwoman8
