Maiz and Mezcal

St Morris

Maiz and Mezcal boasts deliciously authentic food and imported booze, and their menu is so extensive it’s easy to get stuck when deciding what to order. But don’t worry – their helpful waiters are always ready to give a recommendation. We’d suggest trying as much as humanly possible, but don’t forget to include the Raw Tuna Tostadas. Trust us! Oh, and don’t forget to pat the donkey! Find out more

“The service was excellent. The menu was explained well. We ordered the raw tuna tostadas from the new Revolution menu (newly launched). Delicious. The sliders were excellent. Love that they were served as pork two ways with great chips and chipotle mayo. The homemade hot sauce and refried beans are amazing. Make sure you try a margarita!” – 4chillis

Tequila n Tacos

Port Noarlunga

Tequila n Tacos has gone above and beyond in embracing the Mexican theme – and we tip our sombreros to them for it. Cactuses abound, bull skulls are prominent, the tequila list is huge, and the walls resemble an impressive desert scene stretching off into the horizon. The Fiery Chilli, Blue Lagoon and Pink Cadillac margaritas are splendid concoctions, and always be sure to kick off your meal with the mysterious ‘TnT House Special’. We won’t spoil the surprise – but prepare to be amazed! Find out more

Viva Zapata!

Semaphore

Let’s begin with a trip to the beach! Viva Zapata offers spacious comfort, coastline views and hearty Mexican eats. The décor is a nice mixture of Aztec patterns and Dia de los Muertos-inspired themes, with dangling star lights setting it all aglow. If you can’t decide what to eat, we recommend the ‘Chilli Colorado’. That’s tender beef chunks in red chilli sauce served with frijoles and fresh salad, and it’s like a fiesta in your mouth. Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill

Glenelg

Fast, uncomplicated and something of a national treasure, Salsa’s is the perfect choice for Tex-Mex goodness with minimal hassle. The Glenelg store is perched right atop the beach, and offers consistently great food amidst clean, pleasantly relaxed surrounds. The ‘14 Hour Beef Nachos’ are a firm favourite here, piled with cheese, black beans and various tangy salsas. Beautiful! Find out more

“Friendly service and great food! Had Holy Guacamole Nachos and dined in; I was really pleased that I had a washable plate and cutlery to eat with… less waste! The nachos were really nearly presented. Only thing that could have been better was that I asked for Habanero salsa because I like it spicy, and it was a tiny bit light-on. Definitely coming back!” – CrackedChelle
