3 destinations, 14 local stars, plus double the amount of fun and food babies. We hit the streets of trendy Newtown, Sydney starting at Calaveras Mexican Cantina. This iconic bar is everything you’d expect a Mexican fiesta to be feel like, as it’s decorated with sombreros, skulls, colour, lights, and not to mention the wall of tequila. It was great to see so many familiar faces from our previous Sydney food safari whilst also welcoming new local stars too.
The journey continued to Soffritto Restaurant, another local favourite that has been around since 2008, and known for serving hand-made Italian comfort food. The cosy and intimate ambience brought a sense of exclusivity to the delightful evening. As a special surprise, the head chef, Matt, came out to give us a cooking demonstration on how to make duck tortellini. It was definitely a highlight of the food safari, especially as our local stars had the opportunity to go up and wrap their own too.
Delicious food and wine was filling up stomachs although there was still one last stop and one more surprise. Thanks to Perfection Chocolates, local stars had mouth-watering treats to take home. The last stop on the food safari ended at Hakiki Turkish Ice Cream with exotic flavours that were incredibly refreshing and creamy. By this point, everyone was ready to roll home with their massive food comas and a massive grin on their faces.
