If you like your Bloody Marys a little bit over the top, then you need to get yourself to Mechanics Institute on a Sunday. They like to celebrate the end of the week with their special “Epic Bloody Mary”, which is served in a huge jar and comes garnished with everything from mini frankfurts to tomatoes and pickles to an entire cheeseburger. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it’s a damn good drink for the daring.

Meat Candy is a true Northbridge legend, and its popularity is well earned. It comes in a big old jug (perfect for sharing – or not), and is made with their own house-smoked tomato juice. Give it a try, and you’ll be very glad you did.
So, did you give it a try? And were you indeed very glad you did? Let us know!
It might sound like a high-end aftershave for dogs, but Barque is actually a rather lovely restaurant set in a grand old colonial house. It’s known for awesome seafood, exceptional service and gorgeous surrounds, and the Bloody Mary is sublime. It’s called the “Bloody Brilliant”, and that pretty much sums it up. It’s a mix of citron vodka, tomato, coriander, Sriracha, and togarashi spice mix – and the slightly Asian twist on the original definitely works.

You can’t beat a good rustic cafe, and Sayers Sister is one of the best. From the brass-framed mirrors to the recycled bricks to the ornate metal lampshades, everything here is designed to make you go “aww”. Better yet, the geniuses here know that everyone likes their Bloody Mary slightly different. So when you order one, you get the deconstructed version. Think a platter with tomato juice, a shot of vodka, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, salt, pepper and various garnishes, which means you can mix your drink to your own taste. Now that’s thinking!
