It might be cold outside, but that doesn’t mean your love life has to suffer. There’s all sorts of places to take your partner in Perth, and here are five of our favourites.
Galaxy is Perth’s only drive-in theatre, and you know what that means? It’s time to grab some blankets, load up on snacks, and turn your car into a private cinema showcasing the very latest blockbuster hits! You’ll be all alone, so there won’t be any loud talkers, popcorn throwers or mobile phone users to spoil the mood (except for you, that is). Better yet, since it’s a private cinema, cuddling is very much allowed.
“Great place to go. Very family friendly. Pricing very reasonable!” – KazzaRazza
“Rockface” might sound like a lame Batman villain, but it’s actually a very swanky indoor rock climbing centre up in Northbridge. It’s a great option if you fancy something a bit more adventurous than the usual date night standards, and it’s sure to get your heart pumping with adrenaline (as well as love). It’s one of the rare workouts that’s actually fun, so give it a go with your partner sometime.
“Great place! Training every single muscle while having fun is the best part of it. Thanks! Recommended!” – Christopher McAdam
Fact: good food always makes for a good date. So why not try your hand at making it as well as eating it? Matters of Taste holds all sorts of awesome cooking classes – including New York street food, Spanish cantina, macarons, high tea, French Bistro, Vietnamese, and Kashmiri Indian. Pick something you both love and try it out! You’re sure to have fun in the kitchen, and you might even learn something you can take home.

Did you know that winter is actually the best time of year to look at the stars? It’s true: science says so. But it does get rather chilly out there at night, so it’s good to have a more indoorsy option for a bout of romantic stargazing. Enter the Perth Observatory! They run special star tours throughout winter, and it really is breathtaking to get up close and personal with the beauty of the cosmos. It’s definitely a memorable experience, and your date will be feeling starry-eyed in no time (#sorrynotsorry).

Drinks by the fireplace
Hey, you can’t beat the classics! A fireplace and a bottle of wine (or two) are all you need for a wonderful winter date, and The Cabin is more than happy to provide both. This hunting-lodge-themed small bar is perfect for getting cosy with that special someone, and the open fire is a godsend on those long, frosty nights. Don’t forget to check out the winter canape menu too! From roasted pumpkin tartlets to cheddar and jalapeno croquettes, everything is perfect for sharing.
“Has a real cosy, lounge room feel to it as well as a great balcony to enjoy the views! The menu was great, with mostly shared options but some good substantial stuff as well. Great wine list and cocktails that were 11 bucks! Service was great, not too intrusive but always there when you needed them. Awesome job guys and will be heading over to your other venue in Shenton Park real soon!” – perthrocks
