Next time the clouds swell up and start bucketing down, don’t think of it as a nuisance. Think of it as an opportunity to try something new! Don’t worry if you’re stuck for ideas because we’ve scoured the city for a whole bunch of awesome activities the next time the rainy weather threatens to keep us indoors.
Indoor Go Karts
32 high-tech karts and 450 metres of track ensure that Ultimate Karting certainly lives up to its name. This place is awesome for speedsters of all ages, and truly sets the standard for what indoor go-karting can be. Check out the arcade games too, and grab a tasty snack at the Juicy Goose cafe. There’s no better way to spend a rainy day then racing around a track pretending you’re Schumacher!

Back in the day, folks simply popped down the opium den whenever it rained (apparently). We can’t do that now, but we can head to Uncle Ming’s! This richly decorated cocktail bar is inspired by the poppy joints of old, bathed in alluring reds and full of baroque rugs, Chinese lanterns and countless little alcoves to hide away in. The dumplings are sublime, and the ‘Blushing Dragon’ is one hell of a drink.
“Big fan of this place, lovely decor and some tasty cocktails. Nice hidden little gem you could take a few people or just a quiet date, any day of the week.” – dbag
The sun might not be shining, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your skin a little love. Serving both women and men, Thaspa is Sydney’s leading inner-city spot for facials, massages, tans, body scrubs, manicures, pedicures, and even more complex treatments like IPL laser rejuvenation and hair removal. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the venue is a tranquil oasis in the hectic CBD.
“Amazing customer service!! Brought a 10 pack of facials for my wedding. They emailed me after every facial to check up on my skin and to see if all was ok. Let me know the best products to buy, but never pressured and always told me to finish off what I had and we would replace when I ran out. Such a refreshing experience.” – timizjack
Don’t pretend you’re not curious! The friendly psychics at Argyle Oracle have been doing readings since 1993, and they’ve picked up quite the reputation. Who knows what you might learn? Heck, it’s worth going just to see the shop. It’s beautifully new agey, with curving arches, vibrant colours, and a treasure trove of crystals, candles and dreamcatchers to browse through. Not a bad way to spend a few rainy hours if you ask us.
“I have been having readings with Kerry for nearly 10 years so I guess that says a lot about the accuracy of her readings.” – 118frank
