The Rum Diary

The Rum Diary is a super-friendly Cuban bar with over 200 different rums. The cocktails are expertly mixed and wonderfully creative, with ‘The Lobster Among Prawns’ being our top pick. It’s a deliciously inventive reconstruction of the classic Zombie, with tangy fruit curd and absinthe popping candy. How fun does that sound?

Loop Roof

Perched atop uber-cool art forum/performance space/drinking establishment Loop, this rooftop bar is a lush, open-air garden overlooking the CBD. It’s a tranquil escape from the city based right in the middle of it, and everything from the wine list to the burgers is very agreeable indeed. As for rum, make sure you try the Jungle Bird, with Goslings Black Seal, Campari, pineapple, lime and bitters. It’s the perfect mix of sweet and bitter that’ll leave you wanting more.

“Awesome roof top venue in Melbourne! In the ‘Paris’ end of the city, so it was nice to go on a tour round the old buildings to find this venue. Once you arrive it feels like an oasis, where you can admire the old Victorian roof tops and chimneys of Melbourne.” – LauraArthur89

The Attic at Black Pearl

Elegant décor, delectable bar food and top-shelf booze join forces at Black Pearl, one of Melbourne’s shiniest hidden gems. Its recently opened Attic section even has table service, which means the only thing you need to concern yourself with is what to order! On that note, give the tangy Hurricane cocktail a whirl, it’s got dark rum, passionfruit and citrus, and won’t disappoint.

“One of the best bars in Melbourne, has a great selection of drinks and cocktails with a very professional bar staff. Great atmosphere for a few quiet drinks, but can quiet easily kick off. Very comfortable seating, and plenty of it means there is no shortage of places to sit with friends, can get a bit crowded and difficult to move around though.” – David Fraymann
