Dobinson’s Bakery Cafe

Canberra

Clean, contemporary and full of space to sit down and savour your freshly baked treats, Dobinson’s has served proudly as one of Canberra’s leading bakeries for over two decades and counting. The vibrant displays of cakes, lamingtons, eclairs, slices and pies are enough to melt even the steeliest resolve, but where Dobinson’s shines is with their famous chocolate and macadamia tart. The Flute Bakery

Canberra

“Facing tomorrow and respectful of yesterday” is the motto here at Flute, which probably gives you some idea of what they’re all about. Traditional values meet modern techniques and innovative baking wizardry, and the result is shelf upon shelf of colourful, beautifully presented delectables. Picking just one of them is a tall order indeed, but the pistachio cake is a definite must try if you’re after something that’s moist, flavoursome, and utterly delectable.

“I go there several times a week for coffee or for lunches. Always found the staff really friendly and have always enjoyed their food and coffee. Love this place” – silverdaydream

Sweet Bones Bakery Cafe

Braddon

Unquestionably the coolest entry on this list, Sweet Bones is a funky, eclectic little venue awash with dynamic murals, Mexican-esque skulls and various other pleasing quirks of design. It’s not too shabby in the food department either, offering a host of organic, vegan-friendly morsels that show just how delicious animal-friendly baking can be. Try the cupcakes, and you’ll see what we mean! These morsels of scrumptiousness will make you realise that vegan cupcakes are the way of the future!

Croissant D’Or

Canberra

You can’t mention croissants in Canberra without giving Croissant D’Or its due. We promise you won’t find better anywhere in the ACT. The selection here is strong, ranging from classic plain to apple, chocolate, raspberry, blueberry (our favourite!) and almond. It’s warm, toasty, buttery, flaky heaven and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

“I bought a selection of macarons and petit fours recently and they came in a really cute box – presented nicely for a gift. The little tarts (which is what they called petit fours) were very nice.” – RW speaks
