Your mum’s not like a regular mum – she’s a cool mum. So she deserves the best Mother’s Day ever. Get it started with breakfast or brunch at one of these amazing Sydney spots.
Part cafe, part roaster, part speciality coffee store, Brewtown is a spacious, multifaceted venue that never fails to impress. It’s a great place to treat your mum to a stellar brekkie this Mother’s Day, as the food is almost as incredible as she is (you can use that on the day, #yourewelcome). We particularly recommend the Belgian waffles with orange ricotta, stewed fruit and caramelised figs.
“Worth the brunch hype. That’s about all that needs saying I think! Get in early and you won’t even have to queue.” – livvie
Blackwood Pantry is a vibrant, casual and exceedingly friendly eatery in the heart of Cronulla, with a rich and diverse menu boasting all sorts of global influences. It’s a fresh, modern setting that mum will love, especially if you order her the Turkish poached eggs. They’re served on toasted bread with yoghurt, mushrooms, oil, paprika and chimichurri, and they’re seriously mouth-watering.

Let’s be real: all mums are always on some diet or another. It’s just some fact of life. So if your mother dearest is currently trying to be healthy by eating paleo, vegan, raw, organic, or anything else – take her down to Bondi Wholefoods. It’s in a great location, and offers an awesome all-day breakfast menu to ensure you won’t be rushed. Try the Super Food Mesquite Vanilla Pancakes, with white cacao sauce, orange cashew cream, maple almonds and fresh fruit.
“In short, the cauliflower salad is an amazing dish packed with superfood goodness and nutrition that you dont know your body needs, you can choose to have this with either biodynamic lamb, organic chicken or smoked salmon. The salted caramel health smoothie tastes a million times better with organic ingredients and is to die for!” – Random DinDins
It’s only been around for a couple of months, but Little Evie has already blossomed into one of Redfern’s most popular foodie hotspots. It’s got a refreshingly simple philosophy (great food and coffee – what more could you ask for?), and the lemon myrtle cured salmon with scrambled eggs, labne, toast, balsamic tomato and watercress will definitely get you into mum’s good books. Not that you need it…

As the proud winner of “Sydney’s Best Coffee” and “Champion Espresso”, Vella Nero certainly doesn’t mess around when it comes to that sweet, sweet java. So if you and your mum need a bit of help to function on an early Sunday morning, this is the place to be. And once you’ve downed your latte or skim-cap, you can appreciate the delicious food on offer. We recommend the crunchy potato hash with hot smoked salmon and soft egg – the perfect Mother’s Day meal.
“Best coffee shop in the CBD, nice interior with some extra ordinary coffees.” – Sudhirpan
