Fresh, colourful and bursting with life, few places embody the spirit of summer like Pablo in New Farm. The all-day breakfast menu includes ricotta hot cakes, Portobello mushrooms and the incomparable gin-cured sea trout, and the lunch options range from open melting sandwiches to warm pumpkin salads.
We spoke with one of the owners, Amy, to discover their local story:
What is your story?
We are Amy & Mike, a husband & wife team (me out front making coffee etc, Mike cheffing)! We opened Pablo in July 2011, & went from just the two of us to a team now of twelve! I think we’re pretty established as a mainstay on the Briz brekkie scene
What is your business famous for? Do you have a signature dish?
We have always done a very different style of food, staying away from the likes of eggs benny & caesar salads. We pride ourselves on using locally sourced produce, free range & organic where possible. Our signature dish would be our Smashed Peas which has had a few different incarnations. Right now it’s with citrus bacon, herb feta salad & free range egg. Full menu is at www.pablonewfarm.com
What is your favourite local business?
While we were living in New Farm, our favourite place was Gerties. We loved it’s eclectic charm (bit like us!) & a great spot to sit & watch the world go by. We’ve recently moved to Graceville, & our favourite spot is Ananas Espresso. They also use Genovese beans so they were always going to score our patronage!
