Melbourne’s Majestic Waterfront Restaurants

We all need to indulge a little sometimes. Go on, you’ve earned it!

The Point Restaurant

Albert Park

We often find ourselves asking just what the point is, and now we finally know! Turns out, it’s one of Australia’s finest steak restaurants, based in Albert Park and offering gorgeous lakeside vistas for patrons to soak up at their leisure. Beef fans across Victoria, rejoice! Your meaty salvation is at hand, and it is good. Find out more

I’ve had a wonderful time at The Point, it was a rather interesting experience. The staff were polite and welcomed us warmly from the entrance. Food was amazing and the restaurant has an award for the extensive wine list which is well-deserved after I leafed through it. With all that being said, I think the restaurants deserves my recommendation. – Ann Maudsley

The Wharf Hotel

World Trade Centre

The name might seem simple and to the point, and sometimes, that’s all you want out of life isn’t it? The Wharf Hotel is a beautiful venue that champions the very best in local Melbourne cuisine, and its enormous drinks menu is guaranteed to keep everyone thoroughly happy. Like we said, what more could you want out of life? Find out more

This is a great fun place to meet up for drinks, a meal, or a coffee. On a nice day, it’s gorgeous to sit outside overlooking the Yarra. On a cold day, there’s cozy booths complete with candles for having a chat with friends. Food and drinks are a little overpriced but quite good and fairly generous serves. Nice clean bathrooms and a dance floor too. – Marie Davis

St Kilda

Republica holds the distinguished honour of being Melbourne’s only restaurant, bar and function venue that’s literally on the beach. That means you can have blast doing… um, whatever people do on the beach (we don’t go outside much), and then immediately pop into Republica’s giant, welcoming courtyard for a great meal and a cool, refreshing beverage. Blissful, or what? Find out more

This is a funky little place right on St Kilda beach that also happens to have great food! I came with some friends from overseas and we all had a great time. There are so many interesting things to order and service was great. It was fun sitting in the pod chairs too! – starwoman8

Anchorage Restaurant

Anchorage Restaurant’s been gazing out over the tranquil bay and the mesmerising city skyline for over 30 years now, and you’re always welcome to pop down and share the views. This nourishing nautical haven also offers a rich selection of award-winning seafood, and it’s been recently refurbished for maximum style. Find out more

A great high end dining experience with a beautiful view. Definitely a place to take any visiting friends, the views aren’t matched by the food (just) but that’s just because the locale is so good. – robstein

Sandbar Beach Cafe

Middle Park

If Republica is Melbourne’s beachiest restaurant/bar/function venue, then Sandbar Beach Cafe is definitely its beachiest cafe/bar/function venue (there’s a subtle difference). Mere meters from the cool, crystal ocean, this place is absolutely perfect for unwinding on one of those lazy afternoons when the world is at peace and all your problems seem distant and meaningless. Sigh… Find out more
