What’s Happening in Brisbane this November

Art? Culture? Creativity? Brisbane, we’ve got you covered.

Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival

Date: 19-29 November

Location: Five different cinemas in Brisbane

Film buffs, assemble! This is the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival’s second year, and it’s back with over 100 feature films, documentaries and shorts for armchair critics to enjoy. What’s more, movie-goers will be treated with the rare privilege of being able to view 34 of the nominated films from the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (the highest film accolade in the region!). Grab some popcorn, grab your friends, and get ready for some serious film watching.

Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau 2015 at Alliance Française de Brisbane

Date: 20 November

Location: West End

We do like a fine wine, and a good red is the key to any fancy dinner or cocktail party (or really any celebration, we think) and Beaujolais Nouveau is one of the best. Each year, the wine is released globally on the third Thursday of November so celebrate this global event with Alliance Française de Brisbane. You’ll be treated to a tasting of the famous wine paired with cheeses and other delicious French delicacies while listening to an introduction from Master of Wine, Peter Scudamore-Smith. Ooh la la!

The Brisbane Writers Workshop – Writing for Children & Adolescents

Date: 22 November

Location: Harmony Place, Bunya Downs

Have you ever dreamt of being the next Roald Dahl or J. K. Rowling? We do, except it’s so hard to sit down and write that best-selling novel when there are so many great TV shows to binge watch… At any rate, this November, the Workshop is running a new course with two of Australia’s best editors and authors, where you’ll learn the ins and outs of writing everything from picture books to YA fiction.

Stones Corner Christmas Market

Date: 29 November

Location: Stones Corner

Make way, make way! Stones Corner’s got the whole family covered in this good old-fashioned street market, as the entire Logan Road is closed for the day to make way for a multitude of stalls. This is the perfect opportunity for some of that last-minute Christmas shopping, whether it’s for homewares and art for the family, books for the friends or jewellery for that special someone (you know who you are). Oh, and did we mention there’s a jumping castle?
