Urban Cow Studio

Adelaide

Art is sexy. And, slowly meandering across two floors of art showcasing an eclectic blend of funky new art from talented local artists is also pretty fun. Just near Adelaide University, the Urban Cow Studio is the Smurf-blue building on Frome Street that’s part art gallery with an ever-changing exhibition featuring a new artist every month, part shop with unique handmade one-of-a-kind items. Why not stop by and pick up something for that special someone to show them how much you care (and what awesome taste you have)?

“This is a really unique shop – especially for the middle of the city. An eclectic mix of designs all from local artists, ranging from silly t-shirts of Farmers Union Iced Coffee to rare jewellery painstakingly crafted by hand. There’s 2 floors of items, mostly gift-type goods but most of it is high-end, not a lot of junky type things.” – seanaussie

Rhino Room

Adelaide

Whether it’s your first date or date night after several decades of marriage, having a good laugh is a great way to warm up in winter. The Rhino Room comedy club is a fantastic date spot with drinks always on hand, and the endorphin buzz from belly laughs at a good comedian is worth its weight in gold. And, unlike a movie where you’re stuck sitting silently beside someone you barely know for a few hours, you can chat between sets to get to know each other better. That’s what dates are meant to be about, right?

“The best stand-up comic venue in Adelaide! This two storey standout purple building on Frome St in the city hosts the biggest names in comedy all year round, including Wil Anderson, Sam Simmons and Justin Hamilton. Alongside these headliners, expect lots of laughs from RAW local talents, like Mark Trenwith and Moataz Hamde. LOL Lots Of Laughs!” – Rubina Carlson

South Australian Whale Centre

Victor Harbor

For a whale of a good time and a great winter road trip, drive south of Adelaide for a bit over an hour and visit the South Australian Whale Centre. Be sure to rug up as it does get chilly out there, but the effort is well worth it (plus it’s another great excuse to wrap your arms around your date). Most whale sightings are centralised around the Fleurieu Peninsula, but drive 10 minutes down the road to The Bluff for some spectacularly romantic peninsula views and another good spot to sneak a kiss.

“It was an awesome activity centre for parents to do interactive activities with their kids during the wet season and cool days. with it only being approx a 45minute drive from noarlunga (south of adelaide) this should certainly be a place to visit when you want to get out of the house and be inside.” – TheMiddleIngredient

Udaberri Pintxos Y Vino

Adelaide

Rustic yet modern, the intimate, dimly lit Udaberri Pintxos Y Vino is a funky little spot to show off your insider knowledge of Adelaide’s bar scene. In addition to an extensive wine list featuring local and European producers with a focus on Spanish wine regions, they’ve got some tasty little Pintxos (Basque tapas) morsels to snack on over your drinks. Good wine, dim lighting, and the romance of Spain in the air? Any date here is bound to be a success.

“It was packed on Friday night but we managed to find a nook to squeeze into. Started with a cocktail which was nice and moved onto the red wine. Even though it was busy the service was on the ball and not an unreasonable wait.” – 4chillis
