Famous for his weird and wonderful cakes and macarons, people queue down the street for a chance to sample Adriano Zumbo's famous creations.
This small Rozelle cafe is generally not as busy as Zumbo's Balmain patisserie and features stools for guests to sit on and look into the kitchen, where they can watch the magic happen.
The cafe sells pastries, breads, pies, sausage rolls, tarts and the full range of macarons. ...read more
Was really dissapointed with out visit to this store. We have tried other places with Zumbo desserts before and throughly enjoed it but this time it was a let down. The macarons tasted like they were old and the chocolate ganache we got was literally just chocolate ganache, nothing exciting about it. I was expecting something wacky, some burst of flavour hidden inside but it wasn't there. Last time, I had tried the Doris cake with something like 9 different layers of flavour and that was an absolute 10/10 but nothing like that on this visit unfortunately. The cafe itself, is small and not a comfortable place to enjoy a coffee and cake. We ended up finishing our drinks and just taking the rest of the cake/macaroons home.
A little different to the one down in Balmain itself. This one has room for you to sit, it's the actual bakery where the make this yummy stuff. Beautiful breads and macarons and desserts, lovely staff and very very reasonable prices. Can't praise this place enough.
Zumbo's just got bitter... I used to visit Zumbo's at least every couple of weeks. Not anymore. In the last six months they'd run out of some of the pastries quite quickly with the construction going on behind them; they're an easy snack for the lads. "Are you ok?", the service staff asked. "I am, thank you. And I'd like to order some pastries", I said. (Not even a smile? Tough day...). "Can I have a sausage roll please, and what kind of pies do you have left?". "We've got all of them", the service staff said. Ok, I understand that repeating a menu can be tiresome, I thought to myself. "I'll have a beef pie, please." And then came the attitude... The curry chicken pies are fantastic, good selection of pastries, macaroons and cakes all of excellent quality. Coffee is a bit ordinary, very small service area so it's often cramped inside. Service is good but there is often a wait due to it's popularity. Vibrant little place.
