I took my child for lessons at avonlea farm. I wouldn't recommend them. I paid for a thirty minute lesson and fifteen minutes horse care but they were frequently running late and the riding part of the lesson would only last fifteen to twenty minutes. The horse care consisted of handing my child a brush and instructing to brush around the saddle. I felt there were too many horses crowded into a small area and some basic safety procedures were not taught or observed. Also the tack was not in good condition. One of the horses seemed to shy all the time and i was told it was partly blind. They are also one of the more expensive riding schools around and parents have to pay for a full term in advance. If it's too hot or your child can't ride for any reason there are no refunds offered. I think parents should learn a bit about horses and safety around horses before choosing a riding school.
