This is one of a number of pubs in Ararat, though I can’t say that it really grabbed me. I guess it was because it looks rather dull and boring. However, I shouldn’t be too harsh on it, namely because it was nowhere near as bad as some of the pubs that I have been to, though I can’t really say that it was anywhere near as good as any of them either. Still, it was okay, even though they didn’t have a huge selection of beers available.
After 3 visits to the Blue Duck I was hoping it would be a case of 3rd time lucky, but was sadly mislead. The menu had not changed in the 2 years since I first visited. If you are a fan of red meat you're well catered for, but if like me you only eat chicken or seafood you're out of luck. With the exception of the parma, everything is coated in batter (satay chicken in batter, fish in batter - and don't ask if you can have something without batter because they'll tell you no) or smothered in garlic (which you don't want on a night out). The staff were rude, and the service slow. Don't worry about getting in line to order first - the meals come out nilly willy and everyone eats at different times.
