Right on the edge of Hamilton Marina in the perfect spot to watch the glorious sunsets is Bommie Deck Bar. The striking sail design of the building and the deck is open, fresh and has a great view over the marina. Inside is the opulent Bommie restaurant with a very fancy interior. We were taken to a raised carpeted area and sat at a large table situated on the corner which made the experience very private. The wait staff were amazing, very attentive and knew their stuff. The king salmon starter was small but fresh and every element added to the taste of the dish. The lamb main was so so good. The portion was extremely generous and cooked perfectly with lots of different flavours, the fennel being a big winner. I would love to revisit Bommie for a cocktail on the deck or a gourmet and fancy dining experience in the restaurant.
It isn't hard to find places with a nautical theme on Hamilton Island and Bommie is no exception, boasting excellent views of the marina. It's a great place for a glass of wine and some tapas to watch the sun set or for a meal. Beautifully-cooked and presented food with some nice touches. We were offered an amuse-bouche when we arrived which was a tasty treat. Service is great. Prevent bill-shock by keeping alcoholic drinks to a minimum and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Bommie is by far the most sohisticated restaurant on Hamilton Island in a unique building on the edge of the marina ... which is apparently supposed to look like a whale. It's not cheap, but the food is amazing. The room also has a nice feel to it, almost as if you're on a super yatch.
My partner and I had a fantastic eveving at Bommie, we booked for 6pm and were seated by the window (which is ideal to take in the fantastic view). Our waiter was young and enthusiastic with a fantastic knowledge of the menu. We shared an entree of crayfish with quinoa, it was perfectly cooked and had interesting flavours. We were served a complimentary amuse boche which was excellent. I had a confit of ocean trout and my partner had the local white fish with truffled scallop tortellini. The seafood was cooked to perfection. We shared a side of beans with goats cheese and shaved almonds and heriloom tomatoes also with goats cheese. Both were delicious, the tomatoes could have been at room temperature but that's being a bitread more
