My friend was visiting from China just recently and her friends place where she stays when visiting is literally two doors down from The Brompton so deciding where to go for our catch up dinner was easily made – plus The Brompton has good food and is so cosy. We both ordered the beef schnitzel and it was very satisfying! Also ordered the bread loaf with garlic and thyme butter I think it was and it was very fresh and fluffy. Another good meal here at The Brompton :)
As locals, we often go to The B. Whilst the front bar is ok, the layout lacks 'something', but the rest of the venue offers a well decorated, pleasant to be in, relaxing environment. The restaurant meals are excellent. And the staff are always attentive and friendly. A good place to go!
I have heard a few of my friends mention to me that they had been to the Brompton Hotel but I had never been there myself yet until the other week. It is just around the corner from where I am living now and finally decided to go here for dinner catchups with a mate who also hadn't been here before. Pretty updated inside from what I pictured it to be like, The Brompton Hotel was alive and busy that Friday night I came by. We managed to get a seat by the open fireplace which was nice soon as we saw it become available. The menu had some good choices of pub/hotel meals but we ended up getting a schnitzel each. Pretty darn good too, decent size, well-priced and not too oily or chewy. It wasn't until after we ordered that we realized they did Stonegrill! So will definitely be back to give that a shot!
We dropped in for a drink and a bite to eat and grabbed a stool in the bar area. First up some tapas - haloumi and duck shanks - yummo! Off to a good start. We really felt like a big rump steak but are not a fan of the stonegrill (we can cook our own steaks at home) and the only steak on the "kitchen cooked" menu was a beef fillet. We asked if the kitchen could substitute the beef fillet for a rump steak on the dish and were promptly informed "no" with no explanation. Bit of a downer. So pork loin and salmon it was. The pork loin was great - juicy, tender and the salad was delicious. The salmon arrived well done which was a let down but the salad that came with it was crisp and refreshing.
