Bukhara Indian Restaurant & Cafe
Murphy Aneja, a former 5 star hotel executive with 28 years of international experience, brings the sophisticated and subtle flavours of India to regional Victoria with Bukhara, recognised as one of the best Indian restaurants. Murray puts his 5-star hand to every aspect of your dining experience - from greeting you at the door, to supervising table service, overseeing the curry chef and personally serving some of the best Indian food you'll find anywhere. He has a keen sense for those who like an authentic (hot) Indian curry, but is happy to adjust the heat to your particular taste. Exclusive to Bukhara are their exotic, ancient recipes from the kingdom of Marwar such as murgh jodhpuri and shekhawti gosht-lamb curry. Main dishes are served in ornamental charcoal burners and include everything from Goan fish curry to chicken Lahore style, Kashmiri rogan josh and much more. If you're a beef vindaloo connoisseur, don't miss their extra fiery version. Or choose a banquet and take a virtual tour of the sub-continent. And don't forget to settle your stimulated palate with a soothing delight from their dessert selection.

Tried this restaurant last night after being recommended it by the local taxis. Although the room was a little too dimly lit for my liking, my wife stated it added to its character. Very clean place and exceptional waitress service. Murphy, the owner, led us to our table and when taking our order went into great detail about the dish so we knew of its origins and what to expect from it. Although my dish should have used chicken leg meat, Murphy was very accommodating to use breast meat as my preference. The meal was of exceptional quality with a taste explosion of Indian spices I'd never tasted EVER before, and believe me, I've tasted a LOT of Indian curries before. The meals looked small in the dishes but they were very deceiving as we both struggled to finish and had to leave half of the garlic naan to ensure we could finish the meal. After the meal was finished, Murphy again came over to ask how the meal was and proceeded to tell us about the history of his ...read more
One of the best indian so far on my trip to australia hv been eatin in sydney melbourne brisbane there is no place like bukhara in warragul . The care taken in making such great food is worth the praise great work done by murphy singh and his team would recomend to all indians and every one who loves quality indian food . It was also nice to see the place packed and every table having a great time .
We dined at Bukhara after reading all the reviews and awards this restaurant has won. But we were completely shocked with the hospitality and quality of food. When my husband rang for a booking, they were very rude and said that they were booked out. When I rang 10 minutes later, I was offered a booking. The decor was very ordinary. The kofta curry was a diluted tomato sauce with no flavour; the baturas and poori were thrice the thickness and tasted more like flour and yeast. They could not bring us one of the mains for out 6 year old while we were having entrees. It took more than 40 minutes after the entree for mains to arrive. Overall, our wedding anniversary was completely ruined because we selected Bhukara of all places. Date of visit 21 August 2010
You can't have dined at the same place as me then. Murphy has excelled in producing the best Indian food outside of India.
