Hidden in Balmain, Charlottes Cafe boasts an incredible character! The cafe itself is a tight space, but has a nice decor, lots of natural light and not to mention a view of the city. Warm place to begin your day. It is important to note that the cafe is a pay at the counter incase you sit down before ordering. We got an Iced chocolate that was packed with flavour and a coffee on the Campos superior blend. ahhhh my favourite. The service after ordering was quite prompt. I myself got the marinated grilled chicken breast that came with a generous greek salad. The salad was really nice, and huge pile of chicken for my protein fix. We also got the Charlotte's Special (An Oldie But a Goodie) and oh boy this was right. A smoked salmon eggs benedict with some great additions which added another element to the dish, including fried capers and red onion. The flavours were amazing and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Charlotte Cafe is an established old-school local cafe at this relatively quiet residential area of Birchgrove. It occupies a house-like space and prides itself with its old-age decor instead of trying to be hip and relevant. The place is made of several dining spaces up and down the dining area, making the place feels a little less spacious and creates a lot more intimate spaces with different nooks and corners. There is only a part table service. You would have to order and pay at the counter, and have your order delivered to your table when ready. We ordered a few of their comfort foods from both their breakfast and lunch menu, including lamb kafta burger with chips, Charlotte's special (which is a classic big breakfast with smoked salmon), Charlotte's big sister (big breakfast with bacon and chorizo), and an omelette (four types of omelette to choose from). They were generous in serving sizes, just like you expect from a classic breakfast items. Together withread more
Good Charlotte! It's such a sweet place, the service is swift and prices are very fair, all in all the experience is a happy one, and I love being able to read the mags and newspapers here. Coffee was an excellent blend and not sure who supplies the bread, but it was ace.
This little cafe is in Birchgrove is fantastic. The service always comes with a smile and the food arrives soon after. The quality of their food is superb and the prices are really rather cheap, hence value for money is certainly delivered. I keep going back and you will too after you've given it a try. It's chilli chicken burger or avocado and tomato on toast for me.
