This Randwick gem is the sister to the renowned El Bulli in Surry Hills, and serves up the same tasty tapas dishes in equally authentic surrounds.
The extensive menu includes such Spanish delights as chorizo, patatas bravas, gambas and paella.
To continue the theme, a good selection of Spanish wines and beers are available.
While Del Punto plays second fiddle to the other tapas bar in The Spot - the Spanish Fly - Del Punto arguably serves up food just as good. The interior is a mix of southern spain and moody boudoir creating for an ambience that is both authentic but a little bit of fun. The food is good and service speedy. Waiters are happy for a chat and have good knowledge to reccomend what dishes go best with what.
Nomad's Thoughts: Tasty tapas that provides a quieter but just as good alternative to the Spanish Fly. If you like your tapas and are in the Randwick area, El Bulli Del Punto is definately worth the punt.
Food was tasty but i agree with other reviews that it way too salty! I must have drunk 3L of water on my return home. Also, although we were served by seemingly friendly wait staffs the food was brought out super quick (not necessarily a bad thing) and overall it felt like we were just a dollar sign to them. We were interrupted numerous times (by various wait staffs) & quickly picked up (the obvious hint) that we were being rushed. I appreciate that it was a busy Sat night but three times (!) we had to tell them that we were still eating. Our bill was brought to us without being requested and no sooner had we eaten our final mouthful (& begun to finally talk) before a wait staff came over and politely kicked us off the table ( insincerely telling us "I dont mean to rush you" in the very same breath!) We had literally just finished eating our ($87) meal. Lucky for them we aren't slow eaters. Despite El Buli's seemingly cool exterior & popularity I could definitely notread more
My husband and I took 2 very fussy friends here for dinner and they absolutely loved every dish that came out! I even got the guys to try the sangria, and they were converted! The service is fast and friendly, and you have to finish off with the churros. They are to die for! The only negative would be that it is small and cramped, but it's worth looking past that as the food more than makes up for it.
