Nobody wants to really be at court, but the family court of Victoria (Melb City) really was an okay place to be. The counsellors were well trained and have the BEST interests of the children at heart, which is something quite different to parents having their own best interests at heart but sugar coating it as being 'for the childrens' sake'. Nice to be heard and get to the bottom of issues with professionals trained to discern what is REALLY going on and mediate between the parents/childrens' wishes. The interview rooms were a great place to round table pre-hearing, and the waiting area outside provided a comfortable place for my friend to wait - and wait he did for several hours! He was able to work on his laptop easily in this waiting room. Downstairs, immediately between the court building and the train station is a nice coffee shop to breakfast in before your case is called, if you have an early morning court session.
