Very clean, excellent setting, staff very friendly, but the food was so bland, we were a table of six and not one of us enjoyed the meal, it just lacked taste and texture, everything seemed to be watered down. The worst part I chose the restaurant (had been there lots of times before, years ago) and was taking everyone out for a good Chinese meal, so disappointment.
We thought it would be a good idea to try Gawler Palace takeaway as something different, the service was great but that's the only good thing I can say. The so called special fried rice was so bland, no color, very little vegetables and meat, not impressed. The beef in black beef had very little meat and tasted unlike any black bean sauce I've ever had and not in a good way! The honey chicken was okay. I will not eat there again and advise other people not to go there save your money and have a home cooked meal over this place. I have lost faith in south aussie chinese food.
I will not be dining at Gawler Palace again. When we first started going here in 2002, the food and service were great. In recent years this place has gone downhill and you are far better off looking for another Asian specialty restaurant in town.

As an employee of the establishment I feel it necessary to comment to Hewea001. The price mentioned re chicken satay is $20.50 is not upwards of $29. I know that the waiting time mentioned is inaccurate and is a slur on our waiting staff, who always serve our customers with the greatest respect and priority, and feel that your rating of our restaurant was based more on the embarrassment due to delays whilst trying to pay the bill due to some card error.
