What a pleasure it was to onsell a home built by Gold Coast Unique Homes. The layout was such that I had several interested parties. The workmanship was superb and consequently passed the Building Inspection with flying colours. Even the Building Inspector commented on the superior quality throughout the home. Anyone planning on building with Unique Built also known as Gold Coast Unique Homes and Brisbane Unique Homes (Check recent reviews under these names) our experience so far is that our house, at the end of April will be one year late.
Our contract was signed in September 2021. Back then we were excited and believed we would have a lovely home.
It has been a nightmare almost from Day 1. Plans came out of council with the house in the wrong position on the block.
From then onwards at almost every stage things have been incorrect, or incorrect items have been installed.

Having purchased a block of land that we knew was a little steep became our worst nightmare. Quotes to design and build a home were so unrealistic we thought about selling the land. By chance we met Chris at Unique Homes who not only designed us an amazing home but showed us how we can have a view from almost every room in the house. Our budget was affected by retaining walls and underground stuff but we were told the cost up front before we started and made a few sacrifices so we could have 90% of what we wanted most for our budget. We are fortunate that over many years we have built on very difficult slopping sites, but the land has been in great locations with views of lakes or mountains or close proximity to schools and shops. Our experienced trades people have been building on sloping sites with us and are ready for any challenge. We built a home with GC Unique and were very pleased with the process. Chris had the genius idea of making the walkway open to the main entrance which made the whole house feel more spacious (even though the home was built on a skinny block). I had some ideas for different parts of the house that I had found on Pinterest and was amazed to see that Chris could easily include these ideas on the spot. I would recommend Gold Coast Unique Homes to anyone who wants to build with someone who genuinely cares about the building process. We felt at ease the entire time and would definitely build with them again.

Over the many years we have been designing individual homes for our clients, and utilizing the most up to date trends in building luxury homes, but always keeping in mind practical floor plans that enhance famiy style living. We had Unique GC build our home, designed by a top GC architect. We are extremely happy with the end result. The reason I have given them a 2.5 is because if my husband had not been on site every day this would be a very different story. I agree with all of the other issues people have had. Had I not continually chased them, unlikely we would be finished.. The communication was appalling (with the exception of Ruth - who was put in a very difficult situation). It was necessary to document every single interaction with them, as trust was completely gone. After attempts of communicating numerous times to Jim - I gave up - he did not even show the courtesy of responding once or apologising for the numerous issues and time delays we faced due to their incompetence. We are very concerned that you are not completely happy with the service GCUH has provided you with.
During your build, we were not permitted to contact your architect directly and this did not aid in the build proceeding smoothly. There were a number of issues with the supplied plans and these all had to be worked out on site, during the build process, without consultation with the architect. As you can appreciate ...read more

We will happily work with clients who wish to undertake some of their own subcontract works during the builds, but this has to be on the understanding that it occurs within our build schedule and in line with our Construction Manager’s direction. We do find however it is generally an easier and smoother build process if we can use our own trades entirely for the duration of our builds.
We have undertaken many builds over the years, which have been on a larger scale and more complex, and have had very satisfied clients as a result, and thus why it is so disappointing reading your comments.

I was not aware of any meetings that were scheduled that I did not attend (?) and am sorry to hear that you have felt ignored re a lack of communication. We do not want any clients to feel that way!
