Not all doctors are made equal that's for sure. It's taken me 3 years to find a decent doctors. I have since left Coburg but always return to Harding Street Medical. You can book appointments online and choose a doctor based on a blurb they've written. My doctor listens to me, gives me accurate advice, and unlike most bulk billing doctors, does NOT just throw antibiotics at anything that comes their way. Since going here I have received THE best medical advice and it has seriously empowered me to take charge of my health and well being.
I personally liked the clinic, but both my wife and mum in law wont go back, found the doctors overbearing, arrogant and rude.
I would also add that the more experienced doctors will not take new patients, leaving you only the choice of the younger ones - if you are a new patient.
Charging pensioners is not OK, fair enough charging working people - but demanding 40 dollars gap from an 89 year to see a doctor on Saturday is over the top, particularly when they don't even get to see the best doctors.
Will not go back.
I think this medical centre is great if you're looking for a regular GP, however if you have a chronic condition or complex needs, either keep looking or try another medical staff within the centre. The staff are friendly enough, however they don't make an effort to keep up to date with current treatments for regular patients with chronic conditions, as from experience of the medical staff I have seen, listening and absorbing the information is not their strong point, nor is thinking outside the box or hands on work. Like many GP's in Melbourne they won't lift the phone to speak to specialists when in doubt.
I've been searching for a decent GP in the Brunswick/Coburg area for years now. Every place I went to was grotty, unprofessional, didn't listen, rushed through the 'consult', gave me terrible or no advice until I found Harding St Medical Centre.
The ladies at reception are always helpful and friendly and the doctor I first went to is one that I'm able to get in to see regularly. I haven't had a regular GP in about 8 years! She listens to my concerns and provides informative and helpful advice. She doesn't just give the old "take a panadol and here's your certificate" comment but actually discusses what's wrong and offers options. I've already recommended to a friend and will keep recommending this place. It's so good to finally have a doctor I can see regularly and who makes me feel comfortable too.
