Harry Hawker was one of many Australians that left for the UK in the early part of the twentieth century to pursue their dream to fly. A few became integral in the development of aviation as was Harry Hawker and Harry Kauper at Sopwith. Harry Hawkers influence and associations connect the Wright Brothers to Chuck Yagger, from Sopwith to Boeing and from those first few aviation companies in Australia to Ansett, Australian Airlines and Quantas.
Though there have been many attempts to remember Harry Hawker Since the work of Muriel Hawker in 1922,friends and family of Harry Hawker have been continually active in keeping his name remembered, he is still unknown to most of the Australian general public and the people of his home town Melbourne.
