Highlander Hotel Motel

Looking for cheap but cheerful inspiration in a drink I parked in the bay of the drive-thru here. They've actually got a reasonably large selection, as much as my local liquorland. Trouble is not much of it was cheap and the service wasn't really cheerful. It felt more like somewhere you'd buy a good bottle of wine on discount than a drive thru where you'd look for range and value plus some suggestions rather than the grunt I got when asking for suggestions.

One thing that I have discovered is that some of the best pubs are out in the suburbs, though you have to know about them if you aren't a local. The Highlander isn't just a pub but it is also a motel (and sometimes I wonder if the rooms are there for people that end up staying too late at the nightclub). The restaurant is pretty awesome, and when I came here with my housemates at the time one of them had a mixed grill, which consisted of crocodile, emu, and kangaroo. I ended up having what I always have, and that is a beef schnitzel with gravy (though I should have tried something different like the mix grill). They also have a decent night-club on the weekends, which I was lucky enough to go to one night since I used to live in the area. I'm really going to have to come back here one day and try their mixed grill (if it is still available).

Poor service and horrible food took forever. Very rude management refused to accept an entertainment book voucher that clearly states valid anytime. I will never dine hear again and would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

If your keen to wait an hour for your food come to this place!!!

We have eaten and stayed here several times.

The food is fantastic and the spa rooms are lovely.

Food menu has a huge variety and lots of specials every day, so you can have your favourite, or something new every visit without being limited to just a few pub style regulars.

They have 3 different choices of rooms i believe, the original, the updated and the updated with spa. We have only ever dtayed in the updated with spa rooms and they are great - open plan, seperate bathroom, large bed, clean rooms, mini bar/fridge, large spa/shower, a/c and heating, wall mounted flat screen tv with dvd player, fold out sofa- we just love staying there. - which we do alot as family is on that side of town as we live on the other.

The only thing they do not have which we find a bit of a downer, is no room service, we think atleast breakfast or day snacks, there kitchen is contantly open and i think this would be really good for business.
