I just picked up our cat Millie, who stayed at Homestead Kennels over Christmas and am very happy. The cattery is set up beautifully and is nice and cool (even in this heat!!). Millie looks great and wouldn't hesitate leaving her in the wonderful care of Rod, Lucas, Tamara and team as I know they treat my babies as their own. My dog Vlad also attends Homestead Kennels weekly for daycare and loves it, to the point when I say "Are we going to see Rod?" he jumps up and runs to the door and can't get their quick enough... I swear, he thinks he owns the place!!! Thanks again to the Homestead team!
We were so disappointed that you took advantage of our late booking request last December and charged an unreasonable amount, far in excess of what we have paid at other kennels. You dressed this up as a gold service but there was no evidence that you actually provided us or our dog with anything beyond the norm.
I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our service. Our Gold service is a very popular service with our customers, both existing and new. The Gold service was what was available for the dates you requested at the time you made the booking, and your dog did receive the service you paid for. I do not believe our prices are unreasonable, some kennels charge twice as much as we do, and we do not increase our prices during peak times. A quick internet search will verify our prices compared to other boarding kennels. I do hope your dog enjoyed it's stay at Homestead Kennels.
I know this place has a good reputation , however when I left my dog there over Easter and picked her up on the Tuesday morning, my dog was handed to me without a word of what had happened to her tail.
To my disappointment my dog had over 2 inches of exposed bone at the end and no fur, this was constantly bleeding and causing my dog pain.
When I rang the kennel back , I was told it was known as " excitable lab tail" !read more
Firstly, I would like to again apologise on behalf of myself and my staff for not informing you about your dog's tail at the end of her stay. I have given strict instructions to my staff to ensure any future injuries that occur to a pet are detailed to the owner. Thankfully injuries are an extremely rare occurrence. Your dog was a wonderfully happy dog during her stay, tail always wagging. Unfortunately, she wagged her tail too often against the pen walls which resulted in the end of the tail losing it's fur. The bone was not exposed, it was not bleeding, and the wound was not the result of a chemical burn. I tried several times to contact your vet, but either the message did not get passed from the girls on the phone to vet, or he simply chose not to call me back (perhaps because he knew the injury was not the result of a chemical burn). We do not use chemicals that can cause such harm to dogs. The safety of the pets that board with us and my staff is of theread more
