A meet up with friends recently saw us back at Jamaica Blue for breakfast, it was almost 2 years since we were last here, and maybe it was different staff, new management - or *whatever* this time was a much nicer experience. The tables were still neat and tidy and the staff were great. I opted for the pancakes, but when I asked for *no strawberries* the staff member immediately said *we'll give you another pancake then* - to make up for the no strawberries, I thought that was really nice and I still felt I was getting my money's worth (as they say). Hubby opted for raisin toast. We were both impressed with the *presentation* and serving size. Personally I thought pancakes with cream and maple syrup was a better combination that pancakes and bacon. Over-all we were both very impressed this visit and will be back. Good food and good service :-)
unfortunately was very disappointed with a recent breakfast here, while the area is nice and clean, tables kept spotless and great staff - the food (and price) left a lot to be desired. The pancakes were burnt on one side and the bacon was very greasy with all the rind and fat still on it. Hubby had poached eggs with mushrooms and toast - the eggs were practically JUST the yolks, a small handful of cooked (and greasy) mushrooms and 2 huge slices of toast. While the food was cooked and well presented for the money - we were over-charged, over $4.00 alone for a small bottle of juice. Nice coffee, but won't be eating here again
I've never eaten breakfast anywhere, here or overseas where the bacon rind is cut off for you. As for $4 juice, that's what they charge these days, try $4.50 for a can of Kirks cream soda, that's what I was charged at a Thai restaurant, and I'll go back because the food is good and the staff are nice. You either pay the price or you go to somewhere else.
