I was at a show recently and Jamie and Kim's mobile zoo were one of the 'highlights'...well I don't think so! I was extremely disappointed with there show. I was very concerned for their animals, they had a bearded dragon out in the open with nothing but a heat mat on the grass to keep it warm. And we are not in Queensland! The baby croc was stuck in an enclosure with frogs, and to help keep it from eating them, the croc had a rubber band around its mouth. I understand why they did it, but all day? A real bad look!
The animals all looked healthy but the enclosures were all broken and cracked with only gaffa tape holding them together.
If this is their business, they need to really think about how they look to the public and put the animals welfare first.
Hi Grasshopper1. We welcome feedback and are happy to explain any concerns the public might have about the welfare of our animals at our shows. Your first concern, the bearded dragon: That is an Eastern bearded dragon so is local to our area and quite used to the weather extremes. A reptile cannot control its own body heat which is why you often find them sunning themselves, even on the colder days, as they rely on the sunshine and heat from the rock they're sitting on to keep them warm. A heat mat is actually a much warmer and quicker way to warm them up than mother nature. The crocodile: it is actually law that the croc must have his nose jaw bound at public displays. We have a lovely nose cone for him but he actually prefers the rubber band as it's less constrictive than covering the whole nose. The cages: we had a wind storm come through at a market that blew down our marquis and broke a few of our cages. We had to do some quick repairs toread more
MUMS AND DADS BEWARE!!!!! I booked these people to do a show at my sons 5th birthday. Not something we would normally do but his grandpa is in poor health and wanted to do something nice for him in case he isn't around for the next birthday. I booked months in advance. I contacted them again via facebook weeks ago to confirm and I was assured that yes they were coming - I provided them with the CORRECT phone number (I've double checked the message). He was so excited. For weeks he has been telling his kinder friends that there was going to be a snake at his party. His grandpa flew in from Perth to be here. They were booked for 3pm. At 3.10pm I started to get concerned that they had gotten lost. So I called, only to be told that they had attempted to confirm again (why?? when I had already confirmed??) via phone. It appears they transcribed the number incorrectly and were trying to ring and text the wrong number. Instead of contacting meread more
Hi Powellette. Again we can only apologise for the mix up on that day. We do get hundreds of messages via our Facebook page each week so finding your message in there was a needle in a haystack type scenario. We understand your disappointment and anger when we didn't arrive on the day. We do advise people to contact us closer to the date after booking as it's not uncommon for someone to book then change their mind due to various circumstances. With only one complaint of this in over a year of running the business it's certainly not a common occurrence for us. We did try to make amends with the offer of a half price party. We apologised and took full responsibility for the screw up. I'm not sure what else you want us to do to make it up to you. We're sure that your son would have still had a wonderful birthday with the surprise of seeing his grandfather on the big day. Good luck with your future birthday party endeavours.
