I grew up across the road, and i worked at Mayfield as a teen ....... I knew the owners and all the staff as a young child....I was raised on their milkshakes, there is nothing to compare to their Blue Heaven flavouring.....NOTHING....... and from ice creams to sweets they had it all. For many years I thought their take away food was the only take away food in the world. I could watch them ladies making food all day from our veranda.....oh n they had the first jukebox i ever knew of and better than that.... i was allowed to play songs on it when i had the money. And if it was a quiet day i could put on a few songs and dance on my veranda... and did often. Now you may say I am biased but I have not known all the staff for a lot of years now since i was nine ..... I am not even sure if the people who owned it for many many years still have it in their families.
