We ate at the Kelso Hotel on a Thursday halloween night and there were quite a few diners in for tea. We ordered the Hamburgers around 7pm and they arrived around 7.45pm, but as they were busy we did expect to wait. When the hamburgers arrived they had a steak knife sticking out of them. The bun was a Turkish roll and was so hard I could not even cut it with the steak knife. The chips were OK but we had to eat the filling of the hamburger without the bread. A very dissappointing burger and will not return for a meal again and would not recommend it to others as a place to go either.
Went to lunch with my partner for their $10 special. There was nothing special about it.I got to choose between lamb and mash or pork and pasta. To give them a go I thought I would try anyways, so I got their lamb and mash. The meal was sloppy, tasteless and the lamb was in tiny strips that mostly consisted of fat. My cheesy garlic bread I paid for had no cheese and was also tasteless. Overall instead of a nice pub lunch I was regretting I didn't get Maccas. The bistro area is small and seating is within a few meters of the toilet doors, I chose to sit furthest away and could still smell the mens urinals. First and last time I eat here, very disappointing.
Having pre-booked the function room to eat with my extended family, we ended up having to share the room with other members of the public which was fine, except having screaming kids run around while your trying to eat lunch and celebrate a birthday. I found the meal to be ok. The beens with the vegies were quite crisp, and under cooked. I have been to the kelso pub before for lunch and found this meal to be worse. What i found the same this time, but what i don;t like at all is the staff at this place, the bar prices changed throughout the day and soft drink was flat, and clear looking. After returning to ask for a new drink i was overlooked by other "regular punters" placing there bets on the TAB. I was then told that i had to pay for a new drink at a different price. Soft drinked ranged from $2.60 - $3.50 in the space of 2 hours and to get soft drink in a can cost $3!!! Beer prices changed depending who served you and how much you gave them, know your pricesread more
