Kintaro Restaurant
A simple, down-to-earth, authentic Japanese restaurant. With a wide range of dishes, including some of the area’s favourite sushi and sashimi, teriyaki salmon and wafu steak, you’ll want to get in early, because this small place fills up quickly.

This restaurant has moved across the road and has undergone a modern renovation. There are many more tables and the restaurant is presented nicely. The food is still great quality and the service is friendly. Unfortunately we again waited a long time for our food but the waitress was very responsive. We ordered tempura udon and it was delicious except I still don't understand why after perfectly frying the tempura they serve it in the soup. I suggest you ask for them to ensure it is served separately. We also ordered the karage chicken which is now longer a dish of little drumlets. Instead it is now a generous portion of thigh pieces.
Will come here again, just hope they improve their service times. They seem to have served other tables (who came in after us) a fair bit faster so maybe it was a little mix up with our order.
I have been coming to Kintaro for a number of years, but it had been a while since my previous visit. 'Country style Japanese bistro' is the way Kintaro describes itself. With a homely feel, the dishes are delicious and resemble traditional comfort food. Fried Chicken here is very popular and the sashimi is very fresh. The staff are attentive and the prices are reasonable given the portion sizes are generous.
Great place and I can't believe I hadn't been here in so long.
