2 years Ago I purchased a 84 inch 4K Ultra HD LG TV (84UB980T) for $15,000. Now that Blu ray content has finally become available, I'm discovering that the TV is just an expensive paperweight as it doesn't support HDR technology. What next now that I've also upgraded my Receiver and Blu Ray Player to the latest $1,100 4K Panasonic.
I have the same issue at the moment with my 55'4K LG TV. It was advertised as '4k' back in 2014 when i purchased it from JB HIFI, and there were no 4K DVDS out then . i was told they will be out soon, and they had a good deal on this tv. so we stupidly got it. now that there are all these 4k dvds out, we cant play ANY OF THEM in 4k quality. we bought a XBOX ONE S , which has a built in 4k player, and when we try to play a 4k dvd, it says the tv is not 4k. we looked into it, and it all comes down to this HDR / HDR10 component which LG did not put in any of their 4k TV'S 2 years ago. we have written a formal complaint to them, and if they do not replace the tv with a capable 4k tv, then we will be going to the ACCC.
Have you dont anything about your issue? its basically mis-lead advertising!!!
Last Thursday night I purchased a LG BP450 3D Bluray Player so I could watch 3D Bluray Movies on my TV with the staff when they do the sleepover also I can send movies from the Bluray Player to my iPad so I can listen to it privately with my headphones on so I don't wake the whole house up at night.
