LHA's service and competence has been exceptional. I am a tax accountant and the treasurer of a not-for-profit with a high volume of transactions and several small internal business units. I searched almost 20 firms over 10 months for audit services and for a separate bookkeeping function to reduce the in-house workload.
At our meeting Lisa immediately understood the complex tax, regulatory and financial accounting propositions I put to her. Kelley subsequently ensured an timely and competent bookkeeping service that understood and maintained continued the original file I had developed.
LHA were the only firm that was competitively-priced and highly competent. In the world of professional services, it is vanishingly rare to find this combination. This is the only accounting firm I could honestly rate five stars.
Don't like to go bagging on people, but I think "Only Truth" got a bad rap. I took my taxes to them last year. My return was full of mistakes - I had to keep correcting it and I'm talking important mistakes and sending it back, then it'd come back again with another big mistake. Not like I was being rude, they admitted they'd made the error and all that. I don't really pay someone to do my taxes and then have to do it all for them myself, which is what I felt happened. read more
If this was a legitimate bagging I would be concerned but we have to date had no negative feedback from clients who have been unsatisfied with our service. Please have the courtesy to contact us directly to discuss any issues you have instead of leaving negative feedback against a new local business without providing your details. We are a new business and have small but growing client base. We have been through our client list from last year and have no returns that needed to be corrected multiple times (by our error) so are perplexed by this review. Please contact our office.

We've been using Lisa Hooton Accounting for our tax and book keeping for over 2 years. We have found their services to at times be above and beyond and at all times professional and exceptional. They are so approachable and nothing is too much trouble. I highly recommend them and do recommend them to people looking for both bookkeeping and tax services. they make my life so much easier and are so helpful with advice to small business. I can only repeat that I highly recommend them.
I personally don't like my tax details being left on someone's front porch for me to pick up or your personal papers getting mixed up with their kids' drawings that their friend then passes back to them.
Beyond that, they were telling me what I thought was kinda not for me to know about other clients and sending emails out with all their client's email addresses there for everyone to see, working late nights or on the weekend and getting angry cause you didn't reply immediately to their email sent 9pm at night. I'm sorry, I don't think it's the best on offer for someone when we're talking taxes and sensitive information.
Lovely enough, but I'm not going to be getting them to do my next year's taxes and will be looking around for someone with more professionalism.
I wasn't going to rebut, but decided to. I'm not sure about this as I've had no client come to me with any issues - one of my pet hates - people who don't express issues face to face. Anyway, we only leave 'papers' on front porches after discussing with a client (i.e. they won't be home but say ok). Very cute that one of my kids drawings got in the envelope :) I'm sure this would put a smile on most people's faces. We have a policy to blind copy group emails and apologize if this didn't happen - we are all human. I work late nights and weekends as I have 3 kids under 5 - this is my choice and is no-one elses business. I would never get 'angry' if I didn't get a response immediately to an email sent out of business hours (or in business hours for that matter) I would just follow up after 24 hours if it's urgent call. I will be asking for any satisifed customers to post here - the view of one of many is not a good indication of the quality of a service. Support your local business!
