Had lunch here today and I was impressed! The restaurant itself was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly, helpful and competent and the food was delicious!
Had the spag. cab. and it was probably one of the best I have had in Melbourne, huge portion size, very well cooked and presented and packed full of flavor.
Will definitely be eating here again.
I am a very placid and easygoing person but I visited this restaurant today for lunch with my two daughters. More staff than you could poke a stick at but it took 10 mins to take an order then just short of an hour to serve meals.
Then countless staff walked past our table yet anyone order a bottle of wine and the service was super fast. The meals were alright but nothing to write home about and no one gave a damn.
And the rude person that took out payment was unshaven with the usual trait of todays youth could not care less, one of the rudest I've ever encountered - no 'how was your meal' just 'wrong pin' was the only thing staff said when the pin didn't work on my credit card and they have the temerity to have a tip jar.. Truly one of the worst places I've ever eaten in.
BTW, only got 1 star because the review wouldn't accept without giving at least 1 star but the rating is zero.
Very poor service. After waiting for some time, I had to call the wait staff over so we could order. I ordered grilled tomatoes on toast and was given plain toast with a side order of one tiny tomato cut in half. I expressed my disappointment and the reply..."that's how the chef does it here". I also complained to the staff member who told me the chef does not like complaints. Clearly the impression was they did not want to be there. The restaurant was not very busy and now I know why. I will not be returning to Mamma Lina's. Spend your money on a restaurant that welcomes their paying guests.
