Miss Marples

We recently visited and found Miss Marples' quite revamped in terms of food and service. It's a charming place in the midst of a lovely area and filled with local colour. It's right in the middle of everything and boasts great views of the area.

The food isn't good, the service is patchy, opening hours are short and its expensive. Why bother? The location is enchanting and occasionally you will get something you like. Better value elsewhere.

frozen mixed vegetables in your cottage pie and tasteless scones with an attitude from the management that makes you wish youd gone somewhere else......

We came up with overseas guests for an afternoon tea. We had been praising the lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere of Miss Marples. The closing time was listed as 4.30pm on the website and we arrived at 3.45pm. The manager made it quite clear to us that we were late and that they were in the process of closing. We offered to leave but they said that, 'no' they would accommodate us but we could only order scones and tea (no savoury food). From the time that we were seated it was obvious that they did not really want to serve us. The scones were delivered to the table which looked like sliced sponge cake and there was not enough jam to go around four people. We were being watched around the corner to see how we had progressed and were made to feel quite uncomfortable.
