The Mundaring Weir Hotel is situated in the heart of State Jarrah Forest just 45 minutes from Perth. It is built on the first piece of freehold land, five minutes walk from the Weir. The Mundaring Weir Hotel was built in 1898 by Fred Jacoby, it was then called The Reservoir Hotel and consisted of one storey building which can still be found behind the two storey addition built around 1906.Some of the building materials for the construction of the hotel were brought out to Australia from England by sailing ship. A bricklayer doing repairs to the foundation of the fireplace, which is now the Coffee Shop found bricks bearing the name of his home town in the north of England.The hotel is at the centre of many walk trails meandering through the state forest and around the Weir. Two new walk trails have just been completed by the National Trust, a two kilometre walk and a five kilometre walk. Both of these give a wonderful interpretation of the Weir and it surroundings as you walk. The 963.1 kilometre Bibbulmun track goes past the Hotel, the terminus is 50 kilometres away in Kalamunda.
