These days there is only one cinema in the Adelaide CBD (not counting the art-house cinema over the other side), and it is basically this one. This isn’t your typical mainstream cinema in that it tends to show a lot of the less mainstream films, however they do show some of the more popular ones, which is a good thing considering that it does happen to be in the city and there aren’t any other cinemas around here that show such films. However, it is only the less popular films that I will end up coming here to watch. Still, it’s a pretty cool cinema, particularly since it is one of the few that allow you to take your beer into the cinema.
Although Alien Covenant had been out for a while, last night a friend and I decided to catch up for dinner and a movie and seen that Alien Covenant was still showing here at Palace Nova. I have not been to these cinemas in a very long time, its old, not super clean but not bad especially the small cinemas. It's like your own private screening. Big chairs, room to move.. be nice if the the chairs were recliners though. Anyways, well-priced at $10 a ticket. I think I will keep this cinema in mind a little more often now than the usual bigger chains, seeing that it is closer to me from home and being that it is on Rundle street there are plenty of eateries around to choose from if one was to grab a meal beforehand!
Service with a smile. Polite and friendly staff. Cheaper movie tickets then Hoyts and Event Cinemas. Right in the heart of the city with the latest flicks and better sound quality then Marion's cinema. There seems to be more choices of movies and some that are only shown in the imax like docos. I keep coming back with my brother every 2 weeks. Highly recommend the Palace Nova and it's worth trying the cheese platter too.
A friend of mine organized a Girls Night Out to watch Magic Mike and were happy she chose Palace Nova to watch it. The atmosphere was even more relaxed with the bottle, I mean glass of wines we ordered to enjoy whilst watching the movie. The service was good, although they ran out of popcorn to serve. The venue was good but the cinema we were in I found the screen quite small and the sound/speakers were not great. Was a good night though.
