popped in for a take away coffee on the way home from the gym. the place was bare and it's no wonder considering a take away latte is $4.60. $4 latte, 60c take away surcharge. i mean, cmon, for a crappy old shop in blackwood st. next time i'll be going to the tavener (previously zenettis)
Wow, I had forgotten about this little gem of a restaurant/cafe. We came here a year ago with my son for his 16th birthday. It was purely by chance because we couldn't get a booking at the Italian restaurant he wanted to go to. We were actually driving home to get Dominoes takeout and he spotted this as we went by. It's a small family owned business. The only staff were the owner and his young son, who looked to be about 13 or 14, and who made the best garlic and herb bread I've ever tasted. From the outside it doesn't look like much, metal seats and tables, but the food is some of the best we've had anywhere, very generous servings, fresh, and cooked from scratch. So generous, in fact, we asked for doggie bags as we couldn't manage it all, and there were 8 of us. During the evening, there were a lot of pizza and other take away orders, all of which this father/son team handled well and on time.
