We took the ferry from Elizabeth Quay over to South Perth to go to the zoo, which is very easy to do.
I can see that Perth Zoo is trying it's best to keep the zoo interesting through the addition of animatronic dinosaurs, but the rest of the zoo is very much the same as the last time I visited, which was three or four years ago. The Australiana section which used to be full of kangaroos, wallabies and quokkas only had a few around. The majority of other exhibits had animals hiding in the back, which wasn't very interesting. The thing I enjoyed most about the zoo is how green and lush the gardens are, and I enjoyed walking around.

I rate Perth Zoo as average as I have been to many other zoos which had a better overall experience and better prices.

If you want a more hands on experience in Perth, I highly recommend Caversham Wildlife Park.

This is a great place for a very fun day for kids of all ages. Easy to get to. Drive or catch a ferry from Perth CBD. #reviewtowin

Perth Zoo is a great day out for the whole family or even going for a stroll yourself to visit the animals on a sunny day. The penguin enclosure is awesome where you can view the penguins under and above water. The elephant enclosures are roomy a beautifully decked out for the elephants and it is delightful watching the elephants paint or stamp their trunk print creating a unique memento. The grounds are beautifully kept, the enclosures are large and clean and the animals are happy. There were baby Meerkats which were digging in the sun when I went to visit, and the Otters enclosure has expanded to give them more room. Worth a visit as it is always changing and getting better each year.

Great family day out but be prepared for lot's of walking, bring a backpack if you have little kid's or a stroller. Such a wide variety of animals to keep everyone entertained for the whole day.
