Rococo is a vibrant chain of restaurants in St Kilda and Hawthorn. High energy dining in a unique space, Rococo has a cosmopolitan glow about it with a downtown design.
The kitchen serves delicious Italian cuisine which centres on the preparations of authentic Italian dishes paired with fresh ingredients. The drinks menu is also impressive with a great selection of cocktails, beers and an enviable wine list.
I ordered the new prawn and zucchini pizza, which was simply amazing! It has a hint of mint and maybe just a taste of fennel? Whatever, it is, the flavours are amazing! My only gripe is that both deliveroo and ubereats now have fees regardless of the size of the order. So eat in is still my preference!
I find it truly perplexing how places like Rococo decide to discontinue some of their customers' favourite dishes. First the choice of 5 entrees for $30 gone, then the fabulous chicken and pancetta salad and now the crumbed calamari in fennel salt. So many of my friends visit with an expectation that they will eat at Rococo and have their favourites (myself included) The newer dishes seem to have way too much sage in them (involtini) Also, they seem to have a new lunch manager who does not have a good manner with customers.
Having embraced the concept of takeaway and online orders, Rococo set itself the challenge of takeaway food as good as eat-in. Of course, the food is not always as hot when you get home or as fresh- pizza can get soggy at times but overall the quality is amazing. Not everything I love is on the takeaway menu but if you ask very nicely they are usually happy to oblige. Food is well-packaged in cute little bags so that each individual item tastes great. Rococo uses more than one online ordering system so check it out!
I recently planned a birthday lunch for my sister and she loved every minute of it! Even though it was a fairly large group the staff had absolutely no trouble keeping track of drinks and food and the service was excellent. We are keenly awaiting the the take-away delivery option! The food is always fantastic!
