Rustica Sourdough is the culinary creation of Brenton Lang and has quickly become one of the most successful and recognized bakery-cafes in Melbourne.
Almost everything on our menu is baked, prepared or cooked onsite. We have delicious house-roasted coffee, breakfast and lunch menus, artisan breads and some of the best pastries and sweets in town.
Rustica do such beautiful bread and pastries! I had the crushed avo with Meredith feta and Beetroot chips on olive bread and the bread was delicious. Chips were a little greasy, but that wasn't unexpected. I finished the meal with a matcha cronut (croissant/donut) which was a gorgeous balance between creamy (in the strawberry and vanilla creme) and crispy (in the actual croissant). Would like to come back and try some more of their pastries
I had the chicken schnitzel focaccia and a soy hot chocolate here, and my mate had the bacon & egg roll with a flat white. We both commented on how good our drinks were and that we could come back for another one. As for my chicken focaccia, I didn't like how they didn't heat it up on the sandwich press, had I known I would of asked them to, but I ordered takeway and didn't realise till it was too late. They didn't even offer, it was weird that they offered for the bacon and egg but not mine. The focaccia was very bland and lacked a lot of flavour. My mate said the bacon and egg was good though. I wouldn't come back for food but definitely for a coffee.
