Visit this popular café for a good filling breakfast or lunch and enjoy the friendly atmosphere amidst the bustle of Lygon Street. Famous for its coffee, Small Block has an extensive all day breakfast menu of pancakes and plates of eggs and toast and for lunch, try sandwiches, burgers, soups and plates of pasta and other mains. What I love about Brunswick are the alternative, relaxed atmospheres some of the cafes have. At Small Block, the floor staff are more like your friend asking if you want a drink or something to eat rather than just "taking an order." There's no front counter so the open space makes for plenty of room to sit back and enjoy. Oh, and they do great coffee too!
If Small Block could somehow be transplanted into my kitchen, I'd be set for life. It's all about the wholesome delicious food and the friendly atmosphere. Soak up retro-industrial decor and the diverse crowd while sitting on the stairs waiting to be seated. Small children will be entertained by the play corner however there is very little room for prams. It doesn't matter what you order to eat, because it's all amazing, and the menu accomodates special diets. Grab a friend and head over for breakfast or one of their outstanding coffees.
