I was charged additional $30 administration fee for the toll charge. I was told the fee was for completing a form. The car I hired didn't have the e-Tag and I wasn't aware of the toll charge until 3 weeks after using the car. Spendless charged the admin fee against my credit card without my consent. I don't understand why the toll fee could not be paid by Spendless first then charged to my card. This could avoid completing the form. I believe I was unfairly charged. Also this admin fee should be mentioned in the quote.
Hi Sydney0623, thanks for your feedback. We sincerely value all our customers concerns. Just wanted to let you why we dont put e-Tags automatically in the vehicles. Its because many of our clients choose to bring along their own tag or link the car to their personal account. However, we also do hire tags with the vehicles and the option is offered during the online booking process along with other optional extras. In addition we also highlight on each rental agreement how customers can organise a toll pass directly with the Toll providers if they so wish. In relation to the lateness of notification, unfortunately we can only let customers know when we recieve the notice and it is not unusual for us to recieve notices 3-6 weeks after the event. So sorry if this caused you an inconvenience, but from our end, it can't be done any sooner.
. Finally, I just wanted to say that I wish that dealing with infringement notices was as easy as filling out a simple form. But with some Toll companies (especially the interstate ones) we need to get one of the noted Company Officers to actualy get out of their office, drive down the road, find a J.P. and complete a Stat Dec. Unfortunately since the cars are Registered in a Company name, we just cant send anyone. Just between you and me, they often complain that the $30 isnt enough to cover their time and that we should charge more because that is what all the other rental car companies do. But we don't charge more because we provide it as a service and we only charge enough to cover basic costs. Hi team at Spendless, Anja Here! I just wanted to say a big thanks for the help you offered me during my recent trip to Melbourne. Starting with Matt picking me up from the airport in the car I had rented, so helpful considering it was me and my three little ones. I was definitely outnumbered without his help! The car was clean, reliable and so reasonably priced, I have told all my friends! Trudy was so friendly and really did go out of her way to help with the tollways as I had never used them before. I got driven back to the airport by another older man, sorry didn't get his name but he was great too and helped hold my baby while I unbuckled the other two. I really cannot say enough to thank your team. So family focussed and friendly and I will definitely use you guys again if ever I am in Melbourne.
I have just experienced really odd customer service from Spendless Car Rentals. I have not yet decided on renting their vehicle because I'm just confuse with their service based on conversations on the phone. By reading all the feedbacks on their website and on here I thought I would be greeted by lovely staff, however when I called their toll free number to enquire about their advertised special offer (35% off base rate on selected vehicles) the staff that answered the phone was very abrupt and sounded like staff was eating. Staff proceeded to tell me that they don't know anything about the promotion, I then asked staff I want to know which selected vehicles are the ones that the 35% off promotion applied to, staff said 'I wouldn't have a clue' and that was the end of it, wasn't very helpful. Nevertheless after the phone call I still wanted to go ahead with it and just book online because with or without the promotion the company still offered very goodread more
Hi Melbbris, James from Spendless here. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. I can not express how very disappointed I am with the staff member who handled your phone enquiry. We all have bad days and personal issues to contend with, but should be able to leave them at home once we are at work and perform our duties to the expected level. This is not the norm here on so many levels and I would be more than happy to speak to you personally in the hope of getting more information to identify the staff member responsible and offer them additional training.
