Was down at East Melbourne to catch up with a few work colleagues and there isnt many places to eat along Victoria street of East Melbourne. One of my collegues stumbled across Square and Compass Cafe and suggested to try it out. Pretty cosy little cafe, serving sandwiches and baguettes. They also have a menu which has a fair few selection on it. I ordered from the sandwich bar and got a pork belly roll with coleslaw. It was actually really nice. A bit pricey and small serving but as long as it tastes good then i was happy with it. A few others ordered different baguettes and a dish from the menu, the nasi goreng. Westernised version but she said it was pretty good. Very neat cafe and would totally reccomend as there is nt much around East melbourne.
Although this cafe is one of the popular ones, I'd say it's one of the best in the area. Located in East Melbourne, this cafe is actually bigger than expected inside with an open area at that back. Parking was easy on the streets. We came here in a Saturday for lunch and was seated straight away. Staff was friendly and food came out quite quickly. We ordered the super salad and the chilli omelette. Both was delicious and prepared perfectly.
They also have a variety of cakes and muffins to dine in or take away. Happy to be back!
