Sun Pictures is the world's oldest outdoor cinemas. They are iconic and have been open since the early 1900s. They have a covered area too so when it rains you can be sitting in the shelter. The sound system is very good and the place is well maintained and has a lot of character. You can also see the old projectors they use throughout the decades as well which makes it a great learning and tourist experience.
Whilst we didn't see a movie we did pop our heads inside to have a look at the cinema in all its glory. I love that they keep it open so the general public can see inside without buying a ticket, to see the open air set up, beautiful chairs, and all the memorabilia. It's just beautiful.
This is a gem, a true gem of history. With original antique pictures and very very original movie machines. You may have seen it in Bran Nue Day with Geoffrey Rush and Jessica mauboy but this is the real thing. And if you have the time, come back at night to watch a movie. They still play the latest stuff
